It all began like a joke in the FORD-KENYA party. A planned coup yet to fail
Wafula Wamunyinyi and his counterpart Eseli Simiyu are in the Frontline in taking control of the party. In a meeting that was held in Radison Blue, headed by Wafula Wamunyinyi, the discussion was later realized that they overthrew the then party leader Moses Masika Wetang'ula.
In a press conference headed by the Nairobi FORD-KENYA chairpersons, the chairpersons distanced themselves from the coup and declared their support for Wetang'ula. In attendance were all Nairobi leaders supporting the current party leader, Mr Weta. Other regional party leaders have also declared their support for Weta, the latest being Tranzioa and Bungoma counties.
As this goes on, speculations are that the party is in a mess as a result of top most political leaders who want to divide the western part of the country ahead of 2022 general elections. This has seen Mulembe leaders taking different stands on the same issue of leading the western block. One of the person interviewed and did not want his name disclosed for one reason or another said that the former prime minister, Mr Odinga, was behind the mess in FORD-KENYA and ANC parties respectively. "All the problems we are seeing in these parties are as a result of Mr Odinga who wants to vie in 2022. He is frustrating the two leaders because he knows that they will vie in 2022 and they will ask him for support, and since he wants to vie too, he has decided to out do them so that they are unable to seek his support in 2022," he said.
The Kakamega governor, Mr Oparanya and Eugine Wamalwa, Cabinet Secretary Devolution, are seen to be dancing to the government tune, this is after they had a meeting with the COTU secretary Francis Atwoli in his Kajiado home. On the other side, Weta and his counter part, Mudavadi, ANC party leader, are seen to have a different stand of uniting the Mulembe nation. they have carried out several rallies urging Mulembe people to back them and let go Wamalwa and his friend Oparanya.
As this goes on, Mulembe nation has remained divided as to who is their spokesperson! They are left at crossroads as others are following Oparanya and Wamalwa and others are following Mudavadi and Weta.
Meanwhile, the FORD-KENYA coup is still on and both leaders, Weta and Wamunyinyi are still struggling on who to be the party leader. For Wamunyinyi, he wants the leadership of the party since he wants to support Raila in 2022 and for Weta, he wants to vie for presidential seat in 2022.
